It would appear that, in addition to being a chief executive and journalist, Mr Pownall is now a qualified urban planner. Mr Pownall and others who reject the MRA decision appear incapable of answering one important question – if bodies like the MRA and DAP consistently use their discretion, as is the case with DAPs, what then is the role for any town planning scheme? It would appear there are many developers who would propose the scrapping of town planning schemes, but development anarchy would only produce a regrettable outcome. Your reasoning against the MRA decision has not been thought through, but merely gives voice to developers and paid lobbyists like UDIA and the Property Council.
